We listen & answer your questions
Below are the most frequently asked questions our team receives from both current and potential customers. If you have a question and don’t see it, please use the form at the bottom of the page to send it to us.
Why is weed control and fertilizer so important for my lawn?
Weeds compete with grass for space, water, nutrients, and light. They can be very aggressive and take over a lawn quickly if not kept in check. Our service helps control weeds. More than anything, a thick lawn has a better chance to choke out weeds. Unfortunately, there are no preventative broadleaf weed products on the market, so we must stay on them as they come up throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Lawns require fertilizer to maintain health and vigor. The key is applying the correct fertilizer at the right time. A well-fertilized lawn will be much healthier and thicker, which will help fight against weeds, drought, and disease. The healthier the plant, the better, and fertilizers are a critical component to having a beautiful lawn.
How much water does my lawn need?
Typically, a lawn requires 1 to 1½ inches of water each week, according to the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Services. “Water deeply and infrequently, thoroughly moistening the soil to a depth of 4 to 6 inches. Ideally, you should water your lawn between 3 a.m. and 10 a.m. Watering your lawn during those periods reduces loss of water to daytime evaporation and helps prevents moisture from lingering on your grass that can cause lawn diseases.
Will rain affect my treatment?
In most cases, it will not. Give the application 20-30 minutes to dry, and rain or water should not wash away the product. Generally, rain after an application is one of the best things that can happen. If there is ever concern, give us a call and we will make it right for you.
How long does it take to complete a treatment?
Treatment time is based on lawn size. Our industry-specific top-of-the-line equipment is calibrated specially to be efficient as well as provide premium results. In general, we can treat 1,000 square feet in 1 minute. For example: a 5,000 square foot lawn will take us 5 minutes to complete. Give or take a couple of minutes for paperwork, spraying additional weeds from a backpack or hand can sprayer, and loading equipment, most lawns will take somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes. Large lawns will take more time and smaller ones less, but rest assured our technicians are expertly trained to give your lawn the best results possible!
What is the benefit to Tree and Shrub Care?
It can be very costly to replace landscaping and we want to prevent that as much as we can. The trees and shrubs add value to the property. A nice landscape can add as much as 20% to the value of your home. A healthy landscape is beautiful, and it really makes the house stand out in a big way. A landscape that is vibrant and full of color is known to reduce stress and give customers a positive feeling about the beauty of their enhanced outside living. We will do disease treatments, insect treatments, and will fertilize with micronutrients so the plants stay fed and healthy.
What is the proper mowing height for my lawn?
All lawns must be mowed weekly for best results!
Bermuda – 3/4 to 1-1/2 inches
Tall Fescue – 2 to 3 inches
Zoysia – 1/2 to 1 inch
Centipede – 1 to 2 inches
Are the services safe for pets and kids?
Yes. At Think Green, all of the products we use are regulated by the EPA and we follow their guidelines to make sure we are being environmentally friendly and delivering results.. Allow liquids to dry, and granules to settle before entering the treatment area and please always feel free to call our office with questions about applications performed at your home.
Why is servicing my lawn year-round so important?
Think Green’s program is specifically built to maintain health and appearance year-round. Stopping or skipping services will greatly reduce the results we are able to provide, similar to maintaining a diet or workout program. It will take some time to achieve the results you desire, but once you do, it must be continued to maintain those results. Pre-emergent applications, regular fertilization, and spot treatment of weeds will help to keep weeds minimal while promoting healthy growth. Skipping, missing, or delaying applications will put the lawn at risk for infestation of weeds, stress, and other lawn problems.
How does mosquito control work?
At Think Green, we use an industry-specific backpack mister with the highest quality products available. We treat all the shrubs and plants with a barrier spray that kills mosquitoes on contact and sticks to the leaf material. This becomes a residual until the next scheduled visit from your Think Green mosquito expert. Treatments will last around 3 to 4 weeks depending on rainfall, and then we will be back in time to connect the treatments so that maximized protection occurs for your property throughout the mosquito season.
